The Vivid Timeline

Capture the important moments of your life or business.

Capture a timeline.  Capture time.

You've been asked to help with a Vivid Timeline.  We're here to help.

First off, thank you for the time that you're giving to this project.  The individual that asked for your assistance trusts your ability to be a great listener, participant and coach.  We're here to let you know what to expect.

We will spend a few minutes at the beginning of the session talking about the work and how the session will unfold. Once we get started, it's important that we keep moving so the conversation flows naturally and it creates connection points for the artwork.

We will build an Illustrated Model of the discussion live.   It's important to the session that the artwork flows from the conversation.  It is completed during the session unedited.

Your role

Think of yourself as part coach - part facilitator.  Your main job is to help the presenter to relax and lean into the why behind the what on their timeline items.  Once we start the session, we will take it through to conclusion.  Your presence should help to move it along.

Ask a question or two

In order to keep the session moving, ask a question or two if the chance presents itself.  These are to help the presenter take a breath and relax for a minute.  A few questions you might consider are:

  • What did that feel like?
  • What did it mean to you?
  • Have you ever experienced that before?
  • How has that changed you?

Try to make your questions something that cannot be answered by a yes / no.  This will help your presenter lean in to more depth.

The presenter's format

The presenter has been encouraged to bring 5 key events (no more than 10) to the session.  In prior experience, 5 - 7 events usually take up all 60 minutes and will be plenty of content for the finished piece.  They've prepared:

  • the event name
  • its significance to them or their business
  • how it's affected them or their business
  • what it means to them or their business long-term

Thank you again for your help.  We are here to answer any questions you have.
